CALENDAR 2006 – the catalogue of National Musical Instrument Craftsmen

An exclusive edition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Kantele ensemble. The realization of the project was made with the support of the International Charity Fund named after D.Likhachev.
12 months are 12 stories about Russian, Estonian, American, Finnish masters and workmen’s associations, about national instruments of Karelian and Finnish, Estonian and Udmurtian people, Khanty, Mansi... Kantele, kannel, kankles, kokle, krez', gusli, jouhikko, talharpa, hiju-kannel, bowed lyre… These names already sound like music!

In the catalogue you can find a wide range of Finno-Ugrian instruments, ways of their production and differences in their use as well. On the bright pages of the calendar you can see hand- and factory-made instruments; instruments that were used in rituals and everyday life and which are becoming the main “participants” of the performances of professional staffs now.

This calendar-catalogue is a unique edition that shows clearly the differences and similarities of distinctive cultures of Ugric people who live in different countries. It also promotes development of professional art and the national culture of native Russian people.

You can acquaint yourself with the content of the catalogue on the pages of our site (section “Our friends”). As for the printed calendar, you can, for example, hang it on the wall, close to your working place (the edition has a “spring”). Format A-4. Circulation of 500 copies.
